We’re deeply involved in the refugee community in Austin and partner with other area organizations to ensure that our artisans are connected to the best possible resources as they transition to life in the States. While our volunteer opportunities are limited, if you have a heart for refugees, consider getting plugged in to the following organizations:
Refugee Services of Texas: A resettlement agency, charged with helping new refugees get settled and find employment.
Caritas of Austin: Another Austin-area resettlement agency with an organized volunteer program.
Multicultural Refugee Coalition: This non-profit seeks to empower refugees through community, education and reconciliation. Current programs include computer literacy, sewing, soccer, gardening and children’s and youth programs.
i-ACT: Interfaith Action of Central Texas welcomes new refugee families by providing essential language and “cultural orientation” skills.
